8,N508-TEU Ever Lovely to join FE-WC S America service

Jul.16--TAIWAN's Evergreen Line has taken delivery of the 8,508-TEU Ever Lovely as part of its 30-strong L-class newbuilding programme.

The Ever Lovely is the ninth of 10 sister ships ordered in May 2011 from the Taiwan's CSBC Shipyard in Kaohsiung.

The 10 Taiwan-built ships add to 20 similar L-class units delivered between 2012 and 2014 by the South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries, reported Alphaliner.

The Ever Lovely is owned by Evergreen Marine (Singapore) and will be used to run one of the two Far East-west coast South America services jointly offered by Evergreen, Cosco, PIL and Wan Hai Lines that is currently operated with ships ranging in size from 4,000 to 6,000 TEU.

The last unit in this 10-ship series, the Ever Lifting, is to be delivered in September.

In the Taipei-based ocean liner's newbuilding pipeline are still 11 ships of 18,000 TEU from Japanese shipbuilder Imabari and 10 ships of 14,000 TEU from Samsung Heavy Industries and Imabari.

In addition, the carrier has recently ordered ten 2,800- to 3,000-TEU ships from the Taiwanese CSBC shipyard and Imabari that are scheduled for delivery in 2017 and 2018 and are priced at US$37 million to $39 million each. These ships are aimed at the intra-Asia trades and are expected to replace ships of 1,500 to 1,N800 TEU.
