CMA CGM boosts spending in start up TRAXENS

Feb.13--START-UP Traxens is developing container monitoring, geolocation and multimodal coordination systems as investment partner CMA CGM introduces "big data" into the transport industry.

The shipping line will offer its clients tracking solutions and real-time data collection from all over the world

The group announced as well that they have contributed to the capital increase of the French start up.

Two other investment funds, CAAP Creation (Credit Agricole Group) and SCR Provenaale et Corse (BPPC Group), are also part of the initiative.

This capital increase will be dedicated to financing new research and development programmes, as well as industrialisation.

CMA CGM senior vice president, Group IT Systems, Elie Zeenny, said: "In a world where information is the key, we are taking a significant step ahead. We will now be able to collect data in real-time, which is equally important to us and to our clients. Containers are becoming connected devices."
